White cement plant, Algeria.

Project description
A greenfield white cement plant with a capacity of 1 500 t/d is to be built in the north-western part of Algeria near the ports of Oran and Mostaganem.

The new plant will be Algeria’s first white cement facility with a capacity more than sufficient to cover the nation’s consumption of white cement, which is currently around 260 000 t/y.

Value
$172,4-million. The total investment will be financed 60% by debt and 40% by equity

Duration
The factory is scheduled for commissioning by mid-2007.

Breakdown of main contracts
FLSmidth is to supply all the machinery and auxiliary equipment, and several FLSmidth subsidiaries and divisions are acting as subcontractors to the project. FLSmidth’s supplies will consist of a crusher, a complete ILC 3-support kiln with preheater and rotary cooler plus a cement-grinding plant. The contract also includes civil engineering in addition to raw-material stores, silos, electrostatic precipitators, a complete quality process-control system and two complete Ventomatic packing lines.

FLSmidth will be constructing the plant in cooperation with Orascom Construction Industries (OCI).
